Drugged drivers prefer cannibis

Cannibis is the most common illegal drug used by Queensland drivers who fail random roadside drug tests.

Since it’s advent, roadside drug saliva testing has caught 630 Queensland motorists, or one in every 50, for illicit drug use. Cannibis was the drug most often detected followed by methamphetamine and ecstasy.

In 2008 drugs and alcohol contributed to 126 deaths on Queensland roads or 38.4% of the state’s road toll. The figure is unlikely to be significantly different in other states.
