The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has recently approved MDMA (the active ingredient in ecstasy) and psilocybin (a compound found in magic mushrooms) to treat post-traumatic stress disorder and depression (respectively). You, like many other people, might be wondering what exactly this decision means – for sufferers of those conditions, for access to these illicit drugs - and what if anything does it have to do with workplaces? With over 34 years’ experience in occupational medicine, Dr Allen is a leading authority on managing drugs and alcohol at work.
John De Mellow, BSc, Scientific Director – A specialist in workplace drug & alcohol testing, John’s expertise spans from test kits to laboratory confirmation. He is a life member of the industry association Workplace Drug Testing Australia (WDTA), as well as WDTA’s representative on the Standards Australia ASNZS 4308 Review Committee.
