Am I Fit for Work? Understanding Safe Use of Medicines Webinar

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

About This Event:

When it comes to medicines and the workplace, the default question is often “Do you have a prescription for it”? However, the more important question is “Are you safe, given your job?” This is because all medicines - be they prescribed, over the counter or illicit - come with side effects. The issue then is not so much the drug itself but rather the potential for impairment. And the challenge? To ensure those side effects do not constitute a safety risk for the workplace.

DASA’s scientific director John De Mellow, is joined by Occupational Physician, Associate Professor David Allen, and pharmacologist Judith Griffin for a practical and informative discussion around managing medicines from a fitness for work perspective. This webinar is for executives, business owners, health and safety managers, risk managers, drug & alcohol coordinators, and health professionals.

This one-hour webinar will guide you through:

  • Why safety – not drug type – is key

  • Impairment

  • Implications for the workplace

  • Strategies for managing medicines at work
